Four boys and one girls are out for both track & field and soccer at Greene County High School. Soccer is a brand new sport for the Rams, while track & field has been based in Jefferson since at least the 1920’s.

Boys’ soccer coach Carl Behne talked to Raccoon Valley Radio about choosing to do two sports. “There are those that have multiple sports they’re interested in, so that’s going to be a win for the athlete, and for the programs. Right now I’ve got 29 boys out for Greene County boys’ soccer and of those 29, only four are doing track. I’m pretty sure Coach Morton (head boys’ track & field coach) and his team feel like they have great numbers for track this year (nearly 40), so I think it’s been a win for everyone and no one’s seen a distraction from their program.”

The soccer season opens on Monday, April 2 in Grand Junction vs. Humboldt for a girl/boy doubleheader starting at 4:30 p.m. The outdoor track & field season begins on Monday, March 26 in Jefferson at Linduska Field for the Greene County Early Bird Meet.
