The Greene County High School boys’ basketball off-season is underway. Head Coach Chris Nelson returns a pair of all-conference performers and a key reserve from the recently completed 12-11 season. The Rams were 8-6 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference, good for a third place tie in the eight team league.

Juniors Trey Hinote and Lance Hughes were first and second team all-conference players, respectively, in the HOIAC, which could mean good things ahead. That being said, the all-conference teams were dominated by juniors. The first team had five juniors and four seniors, while the second team had eight juniors on it and just one senior.

Coach Nelson talked about the off-season with Raccoon Valley Radio. “We have some guys who have the ability to play, but we have a lot of work to be done in the off-season. The kids are excited and I’m excited, and we have to keep moving forward. If we have to take some lumps along the way, we will, but that will make us better.”
