The indoor high school track & field season is underway for the Greene County Rams. The girls and boys teams both competed inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls earlier this week at the A.D. Dickinson Relays. The girls go to Ames on March 12 and the boys go there on March 13 for the ISU High School Classic inside the Lied Recreation Center. On Saturday, March 17, both Greene County teams take part indoors at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake.

Greene County boys’ head coach Chad Morton talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about what he wants to accomplish indoors. “Just to get them out competing. Get them in the blocks, get them in the high jump, in the sand a little bit in the long jump, and get some of those nerves out right away.”

The coach was an accomplished track & field athlete in high school and college, and is also a track & field official of note. He talked about getting the season started. “I just love this time of the season when the snow is melting, and the birds are chirping. You can hear them in the morning. You just know it’s Spring. You just know it’s track season!”
