acgcWhile she didn’t get to play this season, Charger senior Madison Berger certainly made her presence felt as an additional assistant coach for the ACGC girls basketball team. Berger’s final season came to an early end after suffering an ACL injury during preseason practices.

In her first three years, Berger collected 288 points and dished out 92 assists, including a record 56 last season. Fellow senior Mady Smith and the rest of the team saw her as an integral mentor this season. “She was our ‘turn-to’ person so it was really helpful to have her help coach this year since we didn’t have her on the court with us.”

Head Coach Aaron Dose hopes to see that coaching ability continue after Berger graduates in May. “I’m hoping she’s learned a lot from a coaching perspective. I’m sure she might like to be a coach someday. I’m going to try to talk her into that. I’d love to have her around as a coach someday.”

Berger is hoping to return this summer for the Charger softball team.
