Headlined by State Champions Andrew Flora of ADM and Zach Stewart of Perry, 13 Raccoon Valley Radio area qualifiers placed in the top eight at the 2018 Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament Feb. 15-17 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. All three Raccoon Valley Radio stations and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com covered 25 area athletes from 10 high school programs during the three day extravaganza.

Flora captured the Class 2A title at 113 lbs. and Stewart won the 138 lbs. title in 3A. Perry’s Kaleb Olejniczak in 3A at 126 and Cody Fisher of Madrid at 195 in 2A, wrestling for Woodward-Granger, both finished in second place.

Zane Mulder of Dallas Center-Grimes was third in 3A at 160, and DC-G sophomore Zach Needham was fourth at 182.

Perry’s Zachary Thompson finished in fourth place at 120 lbs. in 3A.

Jack West of Winterset was fifth in 2A at 132 in 2A.

Panorama had five place winners in 1A, led by Trevor Carey, who placed fourth at 182. Panthers Danny Nordquist (126), Wyatt Appleseth (132), Gunnar Grunsted (170), and Dalton Holmes (195) each placed eighth.
