Logo, color, white backgroundIt’s time now to start registering teams for this year’s Relay for Life of Greene County.

The main event takes place Saturday, April 21st at the Greene County Community Center. A new aspect to this year’s relay is the addition of the Spirit Award. Teams will earn points for timely registration, holding fundraisers, attending the main event on April 21st and more. Plus, new teams will be given bonus points just for joining, as an extra incentive. Event Chair Tori Riley talks about why they wanted to introduce the Spirit Award.

“We we think having something like the Spirit Award will perhaps make it more fun for teams. We all like a little bit of competition. And we’re hoping to be able to post how many points each team has earned along the way to kind of light a fire under some people. We’re just looking to add some fun and help us meet our goal of $50,000 for the American Cancer Society.”

The recipient of the Spirit Award will receive a traveling trophy. Last year, there was a record number of fundraising teams with 19.

This year’s logo has also been released. The design is centered around a superhero theme, asking people, “Who is their hero?”
