Perry School Board Approves Contracts for Dewey Complex Project

The Perry School Board convened Monday evening for their February regular session.

In general business, the Board considered bids for the Dewey Field Complex renovation project, which was separated into two different packages to be awarded to different contractors. The low bid for package one was from Lang Construction Group for $745,400. For package two, the low bid came from Seating and Athletic Facility Enterprises for $320,051, which included the alternate for the press box. Both bids were well under the original estimate by construction managers Larson Engineering and were approved by the Board.

During reports, Board Secretary Kent Bultman gave an overview of the school audit report, which he said went well overall. Superintendent Clark Wicks also gave an update on the fundraising efforts for the Dewey Complex project, which has already yielded two $1,000 donations and several $250 contributions. The Board also approved several resolutions, including: accepting the 2017 audit report; a school bus purchase for $89,500, plus an extended 10-year, 200,000-mile warranty for $4,100; an increase in instructional and extracurricular activity fees for textbook rentals and school musical admission; and a request by an employee for additional paid illness days due to a catastrophic occurrence.
