Greene County Supervisors 2_20Due to the President’s Day holiday on Monday, the Greene County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday.

During open forum, resident Dennis Hendricks addressed the Board on two issues. He asked the Board to delay a public hearing for a hog confinement being proposed near his property along County Road E-63. He claimed the confinement building is too close to his property. The public hearing is slated for March 5th. The Board is anticipated to make a decision on setting the public hearing at their Thursday meeting. He also requested the Board’s help with starting a new group, to be implemented in the local school districts: Watch DOGS (Dads Of Great Students). The Board agreed to participate with the Watch DOGS program, but won’t take a leadership position.

A letter was then reviewed from Dick and Delores Finch about pledging $100,000 toward the construction of a new Iowa Central Community College facility to be located in Jefferson. Their pledge will either be paid annually or upon the completion of construction of the project. Their only request is to have Chris Deal recognized for his insight for the project. Additionally, the Board discussed and are expected to approve a resolution to support the construction of a career academy.

Finally, during the budget review workshop, the Board decided to give the Greene County Jailers an additional raise in pay, above the 2.5-percent union contract, based the recommendation from Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams.
