ADM TigersAdel-Desoto-Minburn junior Andrew Flora needed just one point in the Class 2A 113 Pound final to win the IHSAA State Championships at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

Flora entered the tournament with a record of 42-1 after winning the District 4 Tournament in Harlan. In the first round he defeated Southeast Valley-Gowrie’s Coledon Bethel by fall at 1:39. He then beat Osage’s Joe Sullivan by an 8-2 decision in the quarterfinals, advancing to the final four. In the semifinals, Flora defeated defending 106 Pound State Champion Grayson Kesterson from Williamsburg by a 4-3 decision.

Flora and Centerville freshman Nathaniel Genobana entered the final period in the championship match scoreless. Flora executed an escape move and secured a point off a reversal with about a minute remaining in the match. That was all he needed to secure his first state title.
