The Class 2A District 15 boys’ basketball tournament begins in Woodward tonight as Greene County and Panorama square off in a first round contest at 6:30 p.m. The winner meets Des Moines Christian on the Lions’ home floor in Urbandale at 8 p.m. Thursday.

The Rams are coming off a 58-57 loss Saturday afternoon in make up action at non-conference Winterset. Coach Chris Nelson’s Rams are 11-10 and have lost four of their last five games. That being said, those four losses are to teams with a combined 69-11 record. Junior Trey Hinote leads the Rams in scoring at 16 points a game with senior Wade Adcock at 13, and senior Joe Towers and junior Lance Hughes both right around 10 per contest.

Panorama is led in scoring by junior Gracen Welberg at 12.3 points and freshman Zac Rizutti at 10.1.

On paper, the Rams have the edge in shooting percentage, three-point percentage, and free throw percentage, plus points scored per game. The Panthers have a better defensive average.
