Motorists are reminded that plow crews are out clearing the roadways of slush and ice Friday morning.

The Iowa Department of Transportation reports most of the state roads in Greene and Guthrie counties are partially covered with slush. However, Greene County Secondary Roads Foreman Tanner Stauffer points out that slush isn’t something to take lightly. He says slush can be more dangerous to drive on than ice, because slush can fill the space between the tire treads and cause a vehicle to slide easier on the slick road. Stauffer reminds motorists that county plow crews are out now clearing the roads.

Motorists are reminded to give plow crews plenty of space to do their jobs and treating and clearing the roads of slush and ice. The National Weather Service is anticipating the next round of snow and freezing rain to happen Saturday, where some areas could experience as much as five inches of snowfall.
