We’re two days away from the start of the Iowa State High School Wrestling tournament in Des Moines, and the three qualifying grapplers from Adel-Desoto-Minburn Community Schools know the opponent they’ll wrestle in the opening round. The Iowa High School Athletic Association released their annual state tournament brackets over the weekend featuring junior Andrew Flora (113), junior Nolan Harsh (152), and sophomore Kaden Sutton (220) competing for Class 2A championships.

Flora, a two-time state qualifier and a state medalist a season ago, enters this year’s event with a 42-1 overall mark. The Predicament’s No. 3 wrestler at 113 pounds will square off in the first round against Colden Bethel of Southeast Valley, Gowrie. Bethel brings an overall record of 38-13 to Wells Fargo Arena.

Harsh, a two-time state qualifier, returns to the Well with an overall record of 23-3. The Predicament’s No. 7 wrestler at 152 pound will first grapple against Garner-Hayfield-Ventura sophomore Jared Shaw with a 38-4 overall mark.

Sutton is making his first appearance at the state tournament in Des Moines, registering a 30-8 overall record. His first match at Wells Fargo Arena is against West Liberty freshman Kobe Simon with a mark of 32 wins and 18 losses.

The opening session of the Class 2A State Wrestling tournament starts at 9 a.m. Thursday from Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Listen to the Raccoon Valley Radio Network for live coverage of the event.
