ADM Tigers

Wednesday’s unlikely victory at Winterset was the third time this season that Adel-Desoto-Tigers girls basketball team (9-13 overall) tallied a win with a defensive stop on the game’s final possession. The Tigers led 43-41 with under 10 seconds left on the clock. The Huskies got the ball to junior forward Madison Wauters on the high post, and she fired a contested jumper with four seconds left. Her shot went too hard off the iron, and the Tigers secured the defensive rebound and ran out the clock. After the game, ADM girls basketball coach Rick Dillinger said his team’ defense was the difference in the game. “We won it on defense and rebounding,” Dillinger said, “We did get outscored in the fourth quarter which we turned it over a few times where we dribbled into a corner, and we can do that on Saturday.”

The win improved ADM to 7-0 in games when the Tigers hold their opponents below 45 points and their fifth such victory away from Adel. ADM’s journey in the postseason pits them against arguably their toughest opponent of the season, undefeated Class 2A No. 2 Lewis Central Titans (20-0) tonight in Council Bluffs. While unblemished, six of the Titans wins came from offensive performances below 50 points. Senior Maegan Holt is a player to watch out for tonight for Lewis Central. Holt leads the Titans with 376 points scored and 98 rebound.
