The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a wind chill advisory for the Raccoon River Valley area. During the wind chill advisory, temperatures can feel like 5 to 30-degrees below zero. According to the National Weather Service, when temperatures get that cold, frostbite can set in as little as 30-minutes to exposed skin. It is recommended that if you go outside, to dress warmly, and wear a stocking cap and gloves to cover your extremities. Due to the cold, many school districts have also cancelled school for Monday.
