A busy week of duals started Tuesday night for the West Central Valley Wildcats wrestling team. The Wildcats visited Gowrie for a nonconference quadrangular against grapplers from AHSTW, Audubon, and Southeast Valley. West Central Valley returned to Stuart with victories in two of the three duals.

The Wildcats two wins came against Audubon (57-21) and Southeast Valley (43-33). West Central Valley recorded points on eight forfeits, one pinfall, and a decision against Audubon. Zachary Custard (220) tallied the Wildcats lone pinfall victory, bringing Audubon’s Dylan Obermeier’s shoulders to the mat in 11 seconds. All of West Central Valley’s points against Southeast Valley came via pinfall. Wildcat wrestlers who recorded wins by fall against Southeast Valley include: Kiefer Wallace (106; 1:31), Cael Carl (120; 0:11), Drew Belden (132; 4:46), Cole Sackett (152; 0:30), Carson Wadle (182; 0:24), Riley Algreen (195; 1:07), Custard (220; 1:53), and Alex Wells (285; 2:27).

AHSTW bested West Central Valley in the other dual of the evening, 40-35. The Wildcats scored points on four forfeits, two major decisions, and a decision win. The Vikings countered with six wins by fall and a major decision. The results push West Central Valley’s dual record to 13-7 overall. The Wildcat wrestlers continue their dual season tonight in a quadrangular in Clarinda. The event will feature wrestlers from Coon Rapids-Bayard, Ogden, and Clarinda Academy. First grapples are set for 5:30 p.m. at Clarinda Academy.
