One of the Raccoon Valley Radio local schools who took part in Saturday’s ADM Tigers Invitational wrestling tournament was the West Central Valley Wildcats. The Wildcats were one of 11 teams who participated in the annual event hosted by Adel-Desoto-Minburn Community Schools. West Central Valley finished the tournament in fourth place overall with 127 points and had one wrestler atop the podium.

Two Wildcat wrestlers made it to the championship round of their respective weight class. Senior Tye Joint (145) and junior Carson Wadle (182) earned a spot in the championship match. Joint’s title match lasted all of 51 seconds as he brought Iowa City Liberty’s Drew Snyder to his back for a pinfall win. Joint spoke with Raccoon Valley Radio after the tournament to get his thoughts on the season he’s put together thus far. “It’s been going alright for now, but at the beginning, it was a little rough with my knee.” Joint said, “After Christmas break, I’ve been doing good and wrestling really well.”

Joint added three wins on the day, improving his overall record to 15-5. Wadle dropped a 4-3 decision in his championship grapple against Red Oak’s Thomas Bentley. The top six wrestlers in each weight class took home a medal from Adel. Other West Central Valley wrestlers who medaled the ADM Tiger Invite include Cael Carl (120: 5th), Drew Belden (132; 6th), Cole Sackett (152; 3rd), Matthew Clark (160; 4th), Alan Wallace (170; 5th), Riley Algreen (195; 3rd), and Alex Wells (285; 4th).

The West Central Valley wrestling team resumes their season next weekend in the Rich Gray Classic hosted by I 35 Community Schools.
