P46 Wreck 1

A Panora man died and a West Des Moines man was seriously injured after a semi versus car wreck Friday morning.

Just before 9 a.m., emergency crews were called to Dallas County Road P46 south of Dawson, near 150th Street. According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2015 Lexus driven by 49-year-old Chung Lo of West Des Moines was traveling north, while the semi driven by 57-year-old Douglas Harrison of Panora was traveling south. The two vehicles collided head-on, and both wound up in the east ditch.

When crews arrived, they had to extricate Lo from his vehicle before he was transported by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Harrison was declared dead at the scene by the medical examiner. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. The Perry Police Department, the Perry and Dawson Volunteer Fire Departments, Dallas and Guthrie County Sheriff’s Deputies, the Iowa State Patrol, Dallas and Guthrie County EMS, Panora EMS, and the Mercy One air ambulance were all on scene. The accident is currently under investigation by the State Patrol.
