The trial for Patrick Ryan Thompson, the Ames man charged in connection with the May arson and double homicide in Guthrie Center, has been delayed until September 17th. According to court documents, District Judge Brad McCall accepted the delay last Friday. Last month McCall approved a motion to change the venue for the trial in order to ensure an impartial jury. However, a location has yet to be determined.

Thompson was arrested in August and charged with felonies for two counts of first degree murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of first degree arson. He was arrested in connection with the May fire resulting in the deaths of 12-year-old Paige Exline and 16-year-old Shakiah Cockerham. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
