After a one week layoff the Greene County High School basketball teams are scheduled to get back on the court tonight. The Rams host the Saydel Eagles in a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy doubleheader tonight inside the middle school gym in Jefferson. Neither Greene County team practiced yesterday because there was no school due to inclement weather.

The Greene County girls have dropped seven of their last eight games are enter tonight at 4-8 overall and 1-6 in the conference. That lone HOIAC victory was against Saydel in Des Moines last month. The Eagles are 3-10 on the season and 0-7 in conference play. Senior Laurin Lyons, daughter of head coach Dean Lyons, leads the Rams in several categories, including points per game at 11.4.

Greene County will be trying to stop a three game losing streak on the boys’ side. The Rams are 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the conference, while the Eagles are 2-11 overall and 0-7 in the HOIAC. Coach Chris Nelson’s Rams have a trio of double digit scorers in junior Trey Hinote (16.0), senior Wade Adcock (15.2), and senior Joe Towers (10.3).
