The Greene County High School wrestling team is back practicing after a skin disease commonly known as mat herpes hit the team last month. None of the Rams have competed since Dec. 16, and nearly half the varsity has been out of competition longer than that, although injuries have played a part for some of those missing meets.

Head Coach Mark Sawhill told Raccoon Valley Radio that the team was checked by a medical doctor on Monday at practice and permission was given for the team to continuing practicing in preparation for a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference double-dual meet in Alleman on Thursday, Jan. 18 vs. North Polk and Roland-Story (Story City). The Rams were scheduled to wrestling ACGC and South Central Calhoun (Lake City) in Guthrie Center tonight, but Greene County will not be going to that meet.

The HOIAC meet is this Saturday in Story City. The Class 2A Sectional tournament in Winterset the Rams have been assigned to on Feb. 3 is less than three weeks away.
