Clel BaudlerThe 2018 Iowa legislative session is well underway and District 20 Representative Clel Baudler (R) is focused on chairing the House Public Safety committee.

Baudler talked about the importance of public safety being at the top of his agenda. “Number one, public safety. That’s the state’s responsibility. That comes from drug abuse (and) mental health. They both need to be addressed. I’m sure that will be a big focus of mine. Then on water quality. That is something that Governor (Kim) Reynolds said she wants the first bill to pass.”

Additionally Baudler hopes to advance a bill out of his committee on capital punishment. He’s confident he can move the bill out of the subcommittee, but is unsure whether the full committee will see its merits. Baudler also has three bills cycling through his committee and other sub-committees this week on opioid addiction. He noted though that all topics stem from curbing the multi-million dollar budget deficit.
