Perry senior Zach Thompson doesn’t have too many weaknesses on the wrestling mat.  In fact, its more about improving on a daily basis as he gets primed for a fourth run at the state wrestling tournament next month.  Thompson has picked up where he left off the past three seasons posting over 25 wins as the Bluejays gear up for a trip to Winterset tonight and a battle with the Huskies and Creston Panthers.  Thompson is coming off a second place finish at the large school Mendenhall Invitational in Ames this past weekend.

“I think the big thing with Zach is to not have any down moments and to stay on the hunt,” added head coach Mark Weber.  “He needs to always make sure he is moving.  There’s times when he gets good position and rest a little bit and we think we’re okay with where were at and we get surprised, especially against the really good wrestlers.  The big thing with him is to keep his feet moving and always looking to score because if he focuses on his offense, we know his defense will keep him in every match.”

Wrestling in Winterset tonight begins at 5:30.
