The Perry high school wrestling team will be executing a fundraiser for the Jake Cavanaugh Foundation tonight during their double dual with Carlisle and Coon Rapids Bayard.  Through Jake’s courageous battle with cancer, he was inspired by the support of family and friends and the encouraging phrase, “Jake Can.”  In remembrance of his smile, his love of people and his ability to see humor in every situation, the Jake Cavanaugh Foundation will provide funding for support to children and families affected by cancer.  Jake’s parents, Curt and Jane (Stewart) Cavanaugh are both alumni of Perry.  Perry wrestlers over the past 2 weeks have been collecting sponsors for each weight class.  The money that they raise will in turn go directly to a family that has a child with cancer right now.  Individuals could sponsor a weight class for 50 dollars.  The goal was to raise 1000 dollars on the  night.

Wrestling for a Cause night will start at 5:30  along with youth wrestling awards.  Perry youth wrestlers will be admitted free and are encouraged to meet with their Junior Jay coach to coordinate times.
