New Perry City Council

The seven-member Perry Historic Preservation Commission is experiencing a great deal of turnover this year.

At the recent Perry City Council meeting, the Council considered five appointments to the Commission. Of the five, only one – John Palmer – was a returning member. Palmer’s term was up, and he desired to be reappointed. Of the other four positions, two were opened when members Gary Martin and Jeanette Peddicord resigned, and the other two were Judy Marckres and Ronda Onken, who declined reappointment. Council member Chuck Schott asked if there was something underlying going on with the Commission to cause so much change. His fears were alleviated by Mayor John Andorf, who said it was mostly just a coincidence that four people wanted to leave at the same time.

The Council approved the appointments of four new members to the Historic Preservation Commission, including Cliff Fagen, Connie McGuire, Julie Scheib, and Alissa Whitmore. Palmer, Fagen, and McGuire were appointed to terms ending in 2021, while Scheib and Whitmore’s terms will expire in 2019.
