Another weekend tournament took the Panorama wrestling team to Dallas County Saturday. The Panthers entered the annual Perry Invitational tournament featuring grapplers from 14 area schools. Panorama, one of the smallest schools at the event, placed second overall in the final team standings with 185 points. Webster City won the Perry Invitational with 189 points.

Four Panther wrestlers earned spots in the tournament’s championship round. Senior Trevor Carey (182) was the only Panther wrestler to end the day atop the podium, pinning his way to a tournament championship. None of Carey’s matches entered the second period. Gunnar Grunsted (170), Dalton Holmes (195), and Dan Jensen (285) all wrestled in the title match of their respective weight classes but finished in second place.

The Panther wrestling team resumes their season this Friday in the John Harris Wrestling Tournament hosted by Southwest Valley High School. The two-day event begins at 4 p.m. Friday in Corning.
