Panorama-Panthers-Picture112Snowcoming at Panorama Schools is more than just the average week of winter fun culminating in a snowball dance. Today the district is kicking off its sixth annual campaign to give back to the community. Over the years, students and staff have raised over $1,000 in donations to various local and statewide organizations. Throughout the week, Panorama personnel are asked to make various monetary and other donations for a specific charity each day.

Today’s theme is Esophageal Cancer Awareness Day. This was chosen in memory of former principal Mark Johnston, who passed away due to complications with cancer in 2015. Students are asked to wear periwinkle or purple and contribute change for the staff dunk tank. Tomorrow’s charitable donations benefit 3Cs (Children Clothes Closet) of Panora. Students can pay $1 to wear a hat, with the proceeds going to winter hats for the non-profit. Thursday highlights Tori’s Angels and Friday is Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

Students are also encouraged to bring in various personal hygiene items for the Panther Pantry throughout the week. Students can also take this time to nominate community members for Snowcoming Royalty. Students can write essays in 300 words or less explaining why their nominee needs to be recognized for their time, commitment, and support to the district. The District will announce the selected community members at halftime of the girls Pink Out basketball game Friday night against Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center.
