A long losing streak was put to bed Friday evening for the Panorama Panthers boys basketball team (2-10 overall). The Panthers had lost the last nine games they played entering yesterday’s West Central Activities Conference matchup against Guthrie County rival West Central Valley (1-11 overall). The Panthers completed the season sweep of the Wildcats in runaway fashion, 70-24. Panorama outscored West Central Valley 42-15 in the first half and 28-9 in the second. Junior Gracen Welberg poured in a game-best 18 points, while freshman Zac Rizzuti added 14 points in the win. Freshman Evan Taylor led West Central Valley’s scoring with eight points. The win improves Panorama’s overall record to 2-10 and drops West Central Valley to 1-10 overall. The Panther basketball teams resume their season today in Greenfield against the Nodaway Valley Wolverines in nonconference action. The varsity girls game starts at 4 p.m., and the boys game will follow immediately after.
