After a full week of road trips, the Panorama basketball teams return to the hardwood tonight inside the West Central Activites Conference. The Earlham Cardinals hoop squads travel to Guthrie County for a pair of league contests. Tonight is the second and final conference meeting of the season between the schools with each team winning one game in their initial meeting.

The Panorama girls basketball team (14-1 overall) starts the week as the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union’s No. 5 squad in Class 2A. The Panthers bring a 13 game overall winning streak into tonight’s matchup versus the Cardinals. Panorama best Earlham in their initial meeting on December 5, 52-33. The WCAC’s top two scorers so far this winter are from Panorama. Junior Baliey Beckman leads the league with 276 points scored, while senior Devyn Kemble is second in the conference with 208 points scored.

The Panorama boys basketball team (3-10 overall) ended last week’s competition on a winning note. The Panthers saw their nine-game losing streak come to an end Friday in Stuart, 70-24, over the Wildcats. Panorama followed up the game with a 60-52 victory less than 24 hours later in Greenfield against the Nodaway Valley Wolverines. Earlham topped Panorama in the first conference game of the season, 59-44. Junior Gracen Welberg is Panorama’s leader with 174 points and 89 rebounds.

The varsity doubleheader between Panorama and Earlham starts at 6 p.m. with the girl’s contest, and the boys will follow from Panorama High School in Panora.
