Despite an apparent leg injury to all-state player Lexi Koudelka, Class 3A number six Nevada was a 50-29 girls’ basketball winner over Greene County in Jefferson on Tuesday night on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Koudelka, a 6′ 2″ senior, and Illinois State recruit, was bringing the ball up the court with 3:10 to play in the second quarter, when she stopped and bent over, while slapping the court in frustration. There was no contact of any kind when the injury occurred. She spent the rest of the game sitting on the stage with an ice bag under her left leg.

Despite missing nearly 2-1/2 quarters, Koudelka still led all players with 12 points. Hattie Rhodes had 10 and Riley Mailey nine for the Cubs. Nevada is 13-1 overall and 9-0 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. They’ve won 13 games in a row. The Cubs made 21 of 58 shots from the floor and three of six from the foul line. They had just seven turnovers and went five of 20 on three-point shots.

The Rams (5-9, 2-7) had 11 points from senior Laurin Lyons. Sophomore Izzy Bravard came off the bench with six. The Rams were nine of 36 from the field and nine of 14 from the foul line. Lyons made a pair of three-point shots and the team went two of eight beyond the arc. Greene County turned the ball over 19 times.

Coach Dean Lyons’ team plays in Gilbert on Friday night as the first half of a girl/boy doubleheader on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
