Inclement Winter Weather to Hit Our Listening Area Early Thursday

national weather serviceThe National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a couple of winter weather statements for our listening area.

Greene County will be under a winter storm warning from 3 to 6am Thursday. Heavy precipitation is expected, turning into snow for the rest of the morning. Visibility may also be reduced with blowing and drifting snow, due to gusts being as high as 50-miles-per-hour. Total snow accumulations are between three to six-inches in some areas. Most of the snowfall will occur during the Thursday morning commute.

The National Weather Service has also issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Dallas and Guthrie counties from 6am to 6pm Thursday. Snow accumulations range between one to three-inches in some areas. Road conditions will deteriorate overnight, leading to some difficult travel conditions tomorrow. Strong wind gusts of 40-miles-per-hour are also associated with the Winter Weather Advisory.
