GCC-WinterThe Guthrie County Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

The Board reviewed six bids for the lease on the county held farm. Mike Thomas offered the high bid of $272.50 per acre for 216 acres, for a total of $58,860. The official awarding of the bid was tabled to Thursday to give the Board more time to examine the bids.

Then Midwest Partnership Executive Director Sarah Gomez gave an update. Gomez is seeking just over $30,000 from the Board for their 2019 fiscal year budget, which will be the same as last fiscal year. She also discussed business retention challenges, listed companies expanding or offering new products and services, and workforce development in the region. Additionally, Midwest Partnership recently took 30 Panorama school teachers to ten area businesses to gain a better understanding of what their students will need to learn in order to be a part of the workforce.

The Board also approved a series of formal action items, including: the County Treasurer’s semi-annual report for the last half of the 2017 calendar year, a 2017 Tax Increment Financing (TIF) indebtedness certification, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) summary of work-related illnesses and injuries for the Guthrie County Courthouse. The meeting concluded with an ongoing discussion on medical examiner and airport commission appointments.
