The Greene County wrestlers finished second on Saturday at the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference tournament in Story City. Top 10 rated PCM (Monroe) crowned six champions and handily won the event with 223.5 points. Coach Mark Sawhill’s Rams were second at 165.5, just one point ahead of the 164.5 scored by Gilbert. North Polk (Alleman) was fourth at 158, followed by Roland-Story 121, Saydel (Des Moines) 107.5, South Hamilton (Jewell) 70, and Nevada 63.

The Rams had no individual champions, but freshman Brady Stauffer (120), senior Cayden Gerdes (132), junior Brock Wuebker (170), junior Bryce Hoyle (195), and sophomore Joe Anderson (285) each finished in second place. Sophomore Will Hansen (138) and junior Clint Dennhardt (182) each finished in third place. Freshman Chance Mc Collum (106) and sophomore Gage Michelson (220) both were fourth, while senior Isaac Ireland (152) and sophomore Colby Kafer (160) each finished in fifth place. Freshman Clay Peters (145) was sixth.

The Rams wrestle next in Huxley on Jan. 25 vs. Ballard and Perry before going to the ACGC tournament in Guthrie Center on Jan. 27.
