Greene County Supervisors 1_15The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

The Board heard an update and approved a letter of support for the new animal shelter project. Coordinator Don Orris told the Board that they are applying for a Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation grant and needed a letter of support from the Supervisors for the project. The steering committee is hoping to fundraise $1.1 million to build the facility in the Greene County Development Corporation west business park, with construction to begin next year.

The Board also approved an engagement agreement with Ahlers and Cooney to speak to the Board about establishing a tax increment financing (TIF) program. Since the law firm has already visited with the Board one time, for their next visit this Thursday the Board will be charged a fee.

The Board then heard 2019 fiscal year budget proposals from the County Conservation Department and the County Sheriff’s office. The Board took no action on the budget proposals. The Board also set February 5th at 9am as the public hearing date for the Emergency Management 2019 fiscal year budget proposal.
