It had been hoped the Greene County wrestling program would resume practice today (Monday), but that won’t be the case. An email from Greene County High School said, “Due to a continued skin infection, out wrestling program will be shut down through the 14th of January. We apologize to both our student  athletes and our opponents for this unfortunate situation. Our Athletic Department has consulted with medical professionals and they also believe this is the best option at this time. All athletes infected have taken proper protocol to handle the outbreak.”

The last time the wrestlers practiced was last Wednesday, Jan. 3. The coach told Raccoon Valley Radio last Thursday that he’s confident the infection did not originate in the room Greene County uses for wrestling.

The Rams were scheduled to host Heart of Iowa Activities Conference opponents PCM (Monroe) and South Hamilton (Jewell) on Thursday, Jan. 11 in the middle school gym in Jefferson, but  that will not happen. The Rams were to have sent the varsity to Eldora for the South Hardin tournament Saturday, and the JV Rams were to have hosted their tournament on Saturday. There was no immediate word on any make up date for the conference double-dual meet.
