The Iowa High School Athletic Association released Class 1A and 2A boys’ basketball district tournament assignments Friday. Greene County has been assigned to Class 2A District 15 and Paton-Churdan will play in District 15 in 1A.

Coach Chris Nelson’s Rams are grouped with five other teams, all of which are members of the West Central Activities Conference. Greene County is in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. Des Moines Christian entered Friday with a 14-1 record, with Greene County at 8-4, Woodward-Granger 8-6, Woodward Academy 7-4, Panorama 3-11, and Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center 3-12.

Games played through Jan. 30 will count toward seeding those six teams. The number one and two seeds will get first round byes to the Feb. 15 semifinals. The other four teams will play first round games on Monday, Feb. 12.

Teams in District 16 of 2A are ASHTW (Avoca), Clarinda, Red Oak, Shenandoah, Treynor, and Underwood. Treynor entered Friday unbeaten. Winners of the two districts square off for the Substate 8 title and trip to the State Tournament in Des Moines.

P-C is grouped with Ar-We-Va (Westside), Audubon, Boyer Valley (Dunlap), Coon Rapids-Bayard, Glidden-Ralston, IKM-Manning, Tri-Center (Neola), and Woodbine. The 1A first round also begins on Feb. 12.
