Look back at the Greene County and Gilbert basketball series and you’ll see the Tigers own a clear edge. The Rams visit Gilbert tonight in a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy doubleheader on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

The Tigers have won the last 10 girls’ basketball meetings between the two and 17 of 19 going back to the 2008-09 season. The only wins for the Rams were when they were Jefferson-Scranton in ’09 and again in 2012. Coach Dean Lyons’ team is 5-9 overall and 2-7 in the conference and will be trying to break the streak. Gilbert is 7-8 overall and 4-5 in the league and owns a 50-34 win over the Rams on Dec. 1 in Jefferson.

The Greene County boys have won the last two meetings with Gilbert, including a 65-60 victory on Dec. 1 in Jefferson. Prior to those two games, the Tigers won nine of 11. Coach Chris Nelson’s 2016-17 Rams won in Gilbert 64-55 late last season. This edition of the Rams is 8-4 overall and 7-2 in the HOIAC while the Tigers are 5-7 on the season and 4-5 in conference play.
