Dallas Co Supervisors 1-9

The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.

The first part of the meeting was spent discussing a budget funding request from the Dallas County Development Alliance. They have traditionally requested $150,000, but they are wanting to expand operations this year and requested an additional $100,000. The Board hasn’t made any decisions yet on the many funding requests they’ve heard so far.

At 9:45 a.m., the Supervisors held a public hearing to consider bids received for the structural steel bid package for the new law enforcement center. Samuels Group President Sid Samuels said they received four bids for the project, but the lowest bid was deemed unresponsive. Instead, the bid was awarded to U.S. Erectors, Incorporated, for $861,580.

Other items the Board approved included: an application for a Prairie Meadows Legacy Grant for the “Let’s Connect” project; a risk supplement application to the Iowa Communities Assurance Pool (ICAP) for the contractors on the law enforcement center project; a memorandum of understanding related to a grant application from the EMS Department for Lucas Assist Devices for cardiac arrest; a proclamation declaring January 21-27 as National School Choice Week; and the assignment of Nancy Nichols to the Aging Resources Board.
