acgcComing into last night’s contest against Cumberland-Anita-Messina (CAM), the most points the ACGC girls had ever scored in a game was 56. Even though the Chargers left with a loss, they posted a new record in the process. The girls scored 67 points in a 67-74 loss to the Cougars.

Once again junior Jadeyn Carrick led the Chargers with 17 points, including 9-12 from the free throw line. Sierra O’Brien also had her best game since returning from injury, dropping 14 points. Savanna Fuller recorded a season high 13 points and eight rebounds and Olivia Laabs was on triple-double patrol with seven points, five rebounds, five steals, and four assists.

The Chargers got out to a hot start, taking advantage of Cougar foul trouble and leading 19-10 at the end of the first quarter. However, the Cougars claimed a one point lead heading into the locker room after a 25 point second quarter performance. The Cougars never looked back as they outscored the Chargers by six in the final frame. Junior Madison Gettler led all scores with 29 and Paige McAfee added 20. The Cougars improve to 11-3 on the season.

ACGC drops to 2-14 on their season, but their overflowing offense has made tonight’s game with Panorama much more intriguing. The WCAC leaders, and third ranked team in Class 2A, will host the Chargers tonight in the first of two from Panora. The girls game tips off at 6pm with the boys to follow.
