Multiple former high school basketball players from the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area played a role in the latest victory for the Grandview University Women’s basketball team this past weekend. The Lady Vikings hosted the Evangel University Crusaders (2-14 overall) in Des Moines Saturday for a Heart of America Athletic Conference contest. Grandview made 54 percent of their shots against Evangel, cruising to an 84-56 victory.

Two graduates from the area made contributions to the final boxscore against Evangel. Junior Bailee Arnburg, a 2015 West Central Valley alum, poured in a team-best 16 points in the victory. Arnburg added two assists, two steals, and a rebound in the win. True freshman Sydney Bertman, a 2017 Adel-Desoto-Minburn alum, came off the bench to register seven points, two assists, a steal, and a rebound.

The victory improves the Grandview University Womens basketball team’s overall record to 11-7 and 4-3 inside the Heart of America Athletic Conference. The Lady Vikings return to the floor Wednesday at home in a league contest against the Avila University Eagles of Kansas City, Missouri.
