Several area wrestling teams will descend on Adel today for the annual Tiger Invitational hosted by the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers wrestling team. The Tigers welcome wrestlers from Ames, Clarke, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Dallas Center-Grimes, Iowa City Liberty, Nevada, Red Oak, Roland-Story, Waukee, and West Central Valley to ADM High School for the tournament. The event marks the first competition for the ADM wrestling team since taking part in last weekend’s Gary Christensen Invitational at Winterset High School.

Today’s meet is the final wrestling competition in Adel for senior wrestlers Leo Tauke and Aaron Beeber. Beeber spoke to Raccoon Valley Radio over break about wrestling in the annual Tiger Invitational. “It’s always different wrestling in front of your home crowd because everybody in the stands you pretty much know,” Beeber said, “Everybody’s parents are there, everybody’s watching, so it’s a different environment wrestling here than anywhere else.”

First matches of the Tiger Invite begin at 10 a.m., and the tournament lasts throughout the day at ADM High School in Adel.
