ADM Tigers

Friday marks the first time in nearly two weeks that the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers basketball teams will play in front of their home crowd in Adel. The Tigers girls basketball team (4-10 overall) closed a three-game road trip Tuesday in Grimes, battling the state ranked Dallas Center-Grimes Fillies (9-5 overall) in a nonconference contest. Offensive success was hard to come by for ADM in a 51-26 setback to DCG.

After the game, ADM girls basketball coach Rick Dillinger said the offense wasn’t there for the Tigers Tuesday night. “Our execution wasn’t there; we stood around a lot, especially on the wings,” Dillinger said, “We were trying some high/low sets, and we have a post girl who doesn’t come out high, so its a combination of things. We just didn’t get to run much offense because we didn’t execute what we even trying to run in the first place.”

Eight of ADM’s 26 points came from the free throw line in the setback. Freshman Aniston Smith poured in all of her team-best eight points scored in the second half, including six third-quarter points. All seven of sophomore Abbie Hlas’s points came before halftime. The loss drops ADM’s overall record to 4-10. The ADM basketball teams resume their season at home Friday in a Raccoon River Conference doubleheader against the Ballard Bombers.
