ADM Tigers

Playing at home for the first time in two weeks rendered favorable result Friday for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers girls basketball team (5-10 overall; 4-4 RRC). The Tigers started their second trip around the Raccoon River Conference in Adel against the Ballard Bombers (7-8 overall; 6-2 RRC). ADM overcame a turnover-filled opening quarter to edge Ballard, 39-37.

ADM committed 11 turnovers in the first eight minutes of the ballgame, falling behind 10-5 at the end of the quarter. The Tigers battled back to a 17-17 tie at halftime and led 31-26 after three quarters. Ballard outscored ADM 11-8 in the final frame, but couldn’t send the game into overtime after missing a handful of tying shots in the last half minute of the game. Junior forward Kristen Baier led ADM in scoring with 11 points and added nine rebounds. Sophomore Delaney Bertman added 10 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.

The victory snaps a three game losing streak for the Tigers, evens their conference record at 4-4, and improves ADM’s overall record to 5-10. The ADM boys basketball team fell in the nightcap against Ballard, 70-61. The ADM basketball teams resume their season Tuesday on the road in Raccoon River Conference action against the Winterset Huskies.
