ADM Tigers

The first half of the Raccoon River Conference basketball season ended Friday in Boone County for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers. The Tiger hoops squads visited Boone High School for a varsity doubleheader against the Boone Toreadors. ADM closed the first half of the conference season with a pair of losses.

The ADM girls basketball team tipped off the night playing Class 4A’s No. 6 squad in the Toreadors (12-1 overall). Boone muscled their way to a 74-48 victory, closing the first half of the league season undefeated. Sophomore Abbie Hlas led ADM’s scoring attack with 18 points and dished out five assists. Junior forward Kristen Baier contributed 10 points and six rebounds. Boone seniors Caitlynne Shadle and Claire Sandvig combined to score 49 points in the victory. Shadle had a game-high 25 points, while Sandvig added 24 points all from inside the lane. The loss drops the ADM’s girls basketball team’s overall record to 4-9, and they’re 3-4 inside the Raccoon River Conference.

The struggles of the ADM boys basketball team (2-9 overall) continued against Boone. The Toreador led from the first minute of the game and ran away with a 65-53 victory. ADM scored 25 of their 53 points in the fourth quarter. Senior Cole Knoll scored 11 of his team-best 15 points in the second half, adding nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Senior Zach Ferguson added 12 points, including six in the final quarter. Boone senior Trevor Van Pelt poured in a game-high 20 points in the victory. ADM’s skid is now at eight games, dropping their overall record to 2-9.

The ADM basketball teams play the final game of their three-game road swing Tuesday when they visit the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs and Fillies in a nonconference varsity doubleheader.
