Perry School Board Special

The Perry School Board convened Monday evening in regular session for their final meeting of 2017.

Board members Casey Baldwin and Kenia Alarcon were absent from the meeting, which started with a report from Mike Murphy of Larson Engineering. Murphy said his firm is in the midst of finalizing the bid documents. The bids will likely open on February 6th, and will come before the Board on February 12th. Next, Superintendent Clark Wicks, Board President Kyle Baxter, and Vice President Linda Andorf reported on their experiences at the Iowa Association of School Boards Annual Conference. Each said they found the conference beneficial and gave them a lot to consider.

In general business, the Board approved several items, including: an application for around $560,000 in modified allowable growth for dropout prevention and at-risk students for the 2018-19 school year; fundraiser requests for the middle school technology students association and high school volleyball team; revisions to Board Policies; early graduation requests for 11 students; and bus purchase specifications. Finally, the Board approved a contract with Sitler Supplies for the high school’s LED lighting project, which was discussed during last week’s work session.
