acgcThe Charger basketball teams will hit the court in Earlham tonight in West Central Activities Conference doubleheader action against the Cardinals.

Already without Madison Berger due to a season ending ACL tear, the Lady Chargers fear the same for leading scorer Sierra O’Brien. O’Brien sustained the injury at the end of the first half against Panorama on Saturday. The junior received an MRI yesterday for a final conclusion, but Des Moines surgeons fear it will be the second ACL tear the Lady Chargers will have to endure this season. This will give younger players, especially talented freshman Jorja Hoover, the opportunity to see the court. The Lady Chargers are still looking for their first win and will have an uphill battle without O’Brien as they contend with the second place Cardinal girls.

The Chargers are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 53-75 loss to Woodward Academy, snapping their three-game winning streak. The Chargers will face an Earlham squad who also comes into tonight at 3-3. Junior Trent Williamson was on pace to be near the top of the scoring column this season, averaging 16.5 points per game for the Cardinals before being sidelined with an injury of his own. Senior Lazerick Matchem and freshman TJ Harkins have stepped up to lead the Cardinals in Williamson’s absence.

Charger Caden Wardyn is just two points from reaching the 100 mark this season. You can catch both games live on True Country, K107.9 with the girls starting at 6pm with the boys to follow. Pre-Game coverage begins at 5:45.
