Police Chief Mark Clouse tells Raccoon Valley Radio, Casey’s General Store in the 500 block of North Elm Street reported three suspicious checks that were accepted on November 23rd and 25th. Two checks were passed on the 23rd for a total of $137.15 and the other check was for $98.84 on the 25th. Each time the suspect, 29-year-old Cody James Schulte, purchased a small amount of gas and lots of items inside the convenience store.
Clouse notes that the suspect allegedly wore latex gloves each time he filled out the checks and used his own identification. The suspect stole the checks from two different people, and the checks were from accounts that were closed. Officers used video surveillance to identify the suspect.
Schulte is charged with three Class D Felonies for forgery and a Class B Felony for ongoing criminal conduct.
Arrest warrants have been requested. Once the warrants are issued and Schulte is apprehended, he will be booked into the Greene County Jail.
