When Greene County meets Saydel in Des Moines tomorrow night in a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference action, fans will get to see two of the league’s top five individual scorers. Ram senior Laurin Lyons is averaging 17.0 points per game while Saydel senior Katie Schmidt is right behind at 16.8. Lyons ranks fourth and Schmidt fifth among conference players in scoring on the young season.
Schmidt is scoring 46.9% of her team’s 35.8 points per game, which is a very high percentage for one player to score. No other Saydel player is averaging as many as seven points per game.
Lyons is scoring 35.66% of the Rams’ 47.66 points per game. Sophomore Bailey Cunningham is next in line at eight points per game and senior Samantha Hardaway is scoring seven points per contest.
The Rams will be looking for their first conference win of the season and they third victory in four games when they face the Eagles. Saydel is 1-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
