The lone returning state medalist for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers wrestling team has gotten his third varsity season off on the right foot. Junior Andrew Flora, who placed fourth last season in Class 2A’s 106-pound bracket, started this season with six straight wins at 113 pounds. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network was on hand for ADM’s opening duals of the season against North Polk and Ballard last Thursday in Adel. Flora was the only wrestler to record two victories on the night, beginning the season with a 19-2 technical fall against North Polk’s Ryan Davidson. He followed it up with a pinfall victory against Ballard’s Jordan Thomas 1:19 into their grapple. After the match Flora discusses how he plans on pushing himself this winter.

“This year I’m trying to score more points and get a good work out in before I take care (of business) and end (the match).” Flora said, “Go in, get some takedowns in, get a workout in, and most importantly score some points for the team.”

Flora extended his early season winning streak to six matches with four additional victories on Saturday at the DCG Mustangs Invitational. The Predicament currently ranks him as Class 2A’s No. 2 wrestler at 113 pounds. Flora is the next guest on our ADM Student Spotlight, heard during ADM basketball games on the Raccoon Valley Radio Network.
