Raccoon Valley Radio is wrapping up the Caring Christmas Food Drives in Greene County.

All month long, we’ve been doing our Caring Christmas Food Drives with live remote broadcasts from various locations. It’s a way for people to donate needed food items to our local food pantries. All food and monetary donations raised in each community stays with that community’s food pantry. Greene County Action Resource Center Site Manager Diane Blackmer appreciates everyone’s willingness to give during the holiday season.

“We’re really blessed with the generosity of people who bring in food at this time of year. We’ve had people from the Gobble, Gobble Run and the radio station. It’s the right time of year to do it because we do have the increased needs.”

This past Tuesday during our Caring Christmas Food Drive at Paton-Churdan Schools, students that donated to the food pantry could enter their names into a drawing for two Iowa State University men’s basketball tickets for January 20th’s game against Texas Tech. This year’s winner was fifth grader Mario Moreno.

The final opportunity for our Caring Christmas Food Drive in Greene County is this Saturday at Jefferson Hy-Vee from 9 to 11am.
