ADM Tigers

The first victory of the season came Monday night for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers girls basketball team (1-5 overall). The Tigers welcomed the Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders to Adel for a nonconference matchup. Four Tigers finished in double figures scoring as ADM ran away with a 62-23 win. After the game, ADM girls basketball coach Rick Dillinger said the team was excited to get their first victory of the season but says there are still ways to improve. “We played well in some stretches, but we weren’t careful with the ball, especially at the beginning of the third quarter.” Dillinger said, “We came out and turned the ball over three straight times, so that’s got to be addressed. We played a lot of kids, and they were excited to win.”

Junior Emma Jacobsen led ADM’s scoring attack with 13 points. Sophomore Abbie Hlas poured in 11 points while Rachel Hardy and Delaney Bertman each added 10 points in the victory. Eleven of Coon Rapids-Bayard’s 23 points came from the free throw line. Katelyn Winnett led the Crusaders with eight points. The win snaps a five-game losing streak for the ADM girls basketball team, improving their record to 1-5 overall.
